Cooking Instructions
For Savory Vermicelli Upma:
- Boil 1 cup of Kodo Millet Vermicelli in 3 cups of water for 3-4 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, chopped onions, and green chilies. Sauté until golden brown.
- Add finely chopped vegetables (carrots, beans, peas) and cook until soft.
- Mix the cooked vermicelli into the vegetables, season with salt, and stir well.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
For Sweet Vermicelli Payasam:
- Roast 1 cup of Kodo Millet Vermicelli in ghee until golden.
- Boil 2 cups of milk and add the roasted vermicelli. Cook until soft.
- Sweeten with ½ cup of sugar or jaggery and add a pinch of cardamom powder.
- Garnish with roasted cashews and raisins. Serve warm or chilled.
